Belize Entry Requirements

Required Documents to Enter Belize
All U.S. citizens must have a U.S. passport valid for the duration of their visit to Belize. U.S. citizens do not need visas for tourist visits of up to thirty days, but they must have onward or return air tickets and proof of sufficient funds to maintain themselves while in Belize. Visitors for purposes other than tourism, or who wish to stay longer than 30 days, must obtain visas from the government of Belize. Required Travel Documents to Enter Belize
. In cases where a visitor remains in the country for over 30 days, an extension of entry must be requested. Extensions are available for the cost of:

Up to 6 months for US $25
After 6 months US $50 per month

How long can I stay in Belize?
Visitors are permitted to stay in Belize for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days. The following category of persons may be granted by the Immigration Department extensions of up to three (3) months at a time. These three months would be after the period given by the Immigration Officer at the port of entry.
a. Persons living in remote areas away from the Immigration Office
b. Potential Investors
c. Business persons

The above is on the strict understanding that the applicant present himself /herself in person and satisfies the officer that the necessary funds (US$50.00 per person per day) are available for the duration of the period requested, as well as, a ticket to their onward destination. Extensions are granted at a cost of BZ$25.00.

Countries not requiring visas to enter Belize
Citizens holding valid passports from the following country's are permitted to stay in Belize for 30 days without a visa

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Holland and dependencies, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, Paraguay, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay

Countries requiring visas to enter Belize
Entry visas should be obtained outside of Belize. For the nearest place to obtain a visa please visit: Belize Consuls and Embassies. In cases where a visa has not been secured, one will be issued upon arrival at entry points. This will be facilitated only where prior approval has been granted by Immigration. Nationals of the following countries must secure a visa to enter Belize.

Countries requiring visas, pay fees and obtain clearance to enter Belize
In order to enter Belize, nationals of the following countries must secure a visa, pay the appropriate fees and must obtain clearance from the Director of Immigration:
